 "My Exciting Life as an Ironman" by Harriet Anderson
Ever wonder if you could run a marathon, cycle for miles, or maybe even compete in an Ironman triathlon? The Villages’ own Harriet Anderson — a retired nurse, triathlete, and Ironman — will share the story of how she began training as a triathlete at age 50 and eventually competed in Ironman competitions into her 70s. She will help us understand how our mind/body responds to healthy choices.
A Talk on John Drake Sloat and Bay Area history with author Bruce Castleman
Recognize the name Commodore John Drake Sloat? Listen in as author Bruce Castleman, who has written the standard biography of the U.S. Navy Sailor, shares stories about the role Sloat played in our country’s Manifest Destiny westward expansion in 1846, and why his actions led the S.F. Unified School District to consider renaming an elementary school bearing his name, in addition to the city naming a major thoroughfare "Sloat Boulevard”.


SMCo. Senior Transportation Options (Feb '24)

Information presented will be beneficial to individuals who prefer not to drive, are unable to drive, or just want to be prepared for “what ifs’ and for future transi0on. We will cover resources available through public transit (including free 1-on-1 training on how to ride by trained Mobility Ambassadors), local shuttles, free or low-cost transportation programs available through senior centers and community groups, as well as private services.
